About Julie

Welcome to my painting blog! Although I do some oil painting and watercolor as well, most of my paintings are done using traditional chalk pastels.

Having spent my childhood in the Hudson River Valley and as a Connecticut resident for the past 28 years, I focus on painting landscapes of local scenes of New England and the East Coast.  (I also have a little thing for the Southwest.)  Although largely self-taught, I have had the privilege of studying with such accomplished painters as Albert Handell, Doug Dawson, Bob Rohm, Richard McKinley, Gene Cadore and Clayton Beck.

Please feel free to leave me a comment about any of the paintings on the blog as I LOVE feedback, or you can email me if you have any questions about any of them! Enjoy-

Hi Julie – So sorry to read about your ankle! Sometimes these things happen so we have to stay still, right? Jeff and I are planning to take the beach glass on the coastal roads, so maybe we’ll see you at a show. As always, I love your work. A few years back I bought the clam shells and they are spectacular. Now I have to get the geraniums I think. Be well – J and J Behrens
